Artificial intelligence

AI is revolutionising how science can protect the world and its people against the threat of infectious disease outbreaks. Find out how 成人VR视频 is harnessing the power of AI to transform vaccine development for future epidemics or pandemics.

Artificial intelligence is transforming vaccine science

Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that creates new information based on learned patterns from existing data. Its uptake and application has been rapid and it is having a transformative effect across everyday life, ranging from basic organisational tasks to highly specialised areas and industries, including vaccine science.

From disease monitoring to antigen and clinical trial design, 成人VR视频 is harnessing the power of AI across the spectrum of our work to transform how the world can make vaccines safely and rapidly against future epidemic or pandemic threats.

An AI preparedness assistant to get ahead of pandemic threats

成人VR视频 and its partners are focused on rapidly accelerating and exponentially improving how scientists can design and deliver new safe and effective vaccines against novel or re-emerging infectious disease threats. Our aim鈥攁rticulated in 成人VR视频鈥檚 100 Days Mission鈥攊s for the world to be able to do that within 100 days of a new pathogen being identified as having the potential to cause a pandemic.

To advance this mission we plan to collaborate on the development of a revolutionary new AI platform鈥攚e鈥檙e calling it a Pandemic Preparedness Engine. It will act like a kind of ChatGPT for vaccine developers, serving as a virtual scientific collaborator capable of helping researchers identify and synthesise vast swathes of information, test hypotheses and advance vaccine development at unprecedented speed.

Within a single, secure platform, the Pandemic Preparedness Engine will be designed to integrate multiple vast and disparate datasets including gene sequences and potential viral mutations to help design vaccines, supported by epidemiological data to inform preclinical and clinical trial findings, and key insights on regulatory assessments and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies to enable rapid scale-up and supply.

成人VR视频 is also acutely aware of the new and evolving biosecurity risks associated with AI. That鈥檚 why 成人VR视频 and its partners are taking a biosecurity-by-design approach鈥攃onsidering biosecurity risks from the very start of the programme, and building in robust mitigations as the Pandemic Preparedness Engine concept and capabilities are being refined and tested.

The role of AI in biosecurity and the 100 Days Mission

AI holds extraordinary promise in accelerating global progress toward the 100 Days Mission, including improving pathogen detection, strengthening global early warning systems, accelerating vaccine design, improving efficiency of preclinical, clinical studies and regulatory assessments, and enhancing biomanufacturing processes.

AI鈥檚 capabilities are expansive, which is why the world must work collaboratively to strengthen AI applications, maximising the benefits of new technologies while reducing the potential threat to human health through deliberate misuse. This is where biosecurity plays a key role.

成人VR视频 is driving global efforts to establish guidelines on the responsible use of AI in this context, and particularly in support of the 100 Days Mission. In collaboration with the University of Washington Institute of Protein Design, global AI developers, and biosecurity experts, 成人VR视频 developed and published principles to guide the responsible development of AI for protein design that has now been endorsed by more than 185 leaders across more than 20 countries.
